How to tag users in the team
Tag users to create a granular view of analytics
Tags let team admins group users or stations into labelled segments for more granular analysis in analytics. A user or station can hold multiple tags, and any tag can be applied to as many people as needed.
Who can manage tags? Admins and Owners only. Users with the User role can view tags but cannot create, edit, or assign them.
Create and manage tags
- Log in to your account dashboard
- Navigate to Team > Tags
- Click Create tag, enter a name, and confirm
Tags are colour-coded automatically. To rename or delete a tag, select it from the Tags list and use the options that appear.
You can assign tags from the team table, one or several users at a time.
Individually - Click the tag cell in a user's row to open a dropdown. Select existing tags or type to create a new one inline.
In bulk - Tick the checkboxes next to the users or stations you want to tag, then select Actions > Tags. Check or uncheck tags to apply or remove them across the entire selection.
Bulk-assign tags with a CSV fileTags applied to users are reflected in analytics immediately - no refresh needed.
For large teams, upload a CSV to assign tags to many users or stations at once. The uploader lives in Team > Tags under the Tags bulk assign card.
Prepare your CSV
- User-based teams: two columns -
emailandtags - Station-based teams: two/three columns -
username,device nameandtags
Device name is optional. It is best used when your station name is the same for all users e.g.
useroragent, the device name allows you to identify the users.
List multiple tags for one person as a comma-separated value within the tags cell (e.g. "London, Tier 1, Support"). Download your current user or station list from the bulk assign card as a reference.
Upload steps
- Go to Team > Tags and click Tags bulk assign
- Drag and drop your
.csvfile or click to browse (max 5 MB) - On the mapping step, confirm which CSV columns correspond to name and tags
- Review the summary - each tag is listed with the users it will affect
- Choose whether to add the uploaded tags to existing ones or overwrite all current tags for users in the file
- Confirm to apply
Overwrite mode removes all existing tags from users included in the CSV, even if a row has no tags column value. Users not included in the CSV are unaffected.
Filter analytics by tag
Once tags are assigned, use them to segment your analytics data.
- Navigate to Analytics
- Open the Filters panel
- Expand Tags and select one or more tags
The dashboard updates to show only sessions, users, and minutes that match the selected tags. The Tags column in the sessions table shows each user's assigned tags at a glance.
